Many of our first-time Ocean Adventure guests choose the Big Island specifically for this tour, while others discover how special it is after they have already arrived. For many, our Ocean Adventure is their destination trip. Guests quickly learn this high-end, small-group, bucket-list-type experience is exactly what they’ve been looking for.
Honokohau Harbor is located centrally on the lee side of the Big Island. Its calm waters have earned the nickname “Lake Kona”, and its nearshore depths offer unique accessibility to offshore pelagic life within just a few miles of our marina.
Many of our guests want to spend the entire day inshore snorkeling the best reefs on the island with our expert guides. They enjoy cruising the coast in search of spinner dolphins, manta rays, and other inshore tropical species. Other guests prefer to venture offshore into the pelagic zone where we may encounter pilot whales, melon-headed whales, beaked whales, sperm whales, false killer whales, and the occasional whale shark. At Hawaiian Adventures we also love our sharks. Our guides have a tremendous amount of experience in the water with all shark species, including oceanic white tips.

All Ocean Adventure tours are private charters for up to six guests. This allows us to go to the speed of your group both in-water and out while providing one-on-one personalized service. We recommend departing at 7 AM which gives us the best part of the day to explore the wildlife that calls Hawaii home. You are more than welcome to select the departure time that works best for you and your group!

Callisto is our 32 ft regulator designed for speed, safety, comfort, and an incredibly smooth ride. Her name comes from a killer whale in the pacific northwest (T65A6), who was named after the hunting partner of Artemis, the greek goddess of the hunt. Equipped with twin 350 Yamahas, Callisto is perfect for exploring inshore reefs or pushing offshore into the deep. This luxury 6-person vessel has a restroom, fresh water shower, padded seats, and a custom boarding ladder for easy access in and out of the water. With plenty of waterproof storage, there’s room for guests and their extra gear and equipment onboard. 360-degree viewing and a full walk-around also add to a premier experience.
Callisto’s configuration was specifically set up for private snorkel tours on the Big Island. With 32 feet of total length, she’s has more than enough room for six total guests. Padded seats coupled with a full 360-degree viewing deck, there’s no better snorkel boat in Kona.
At Hawaiian Adventures Kona, we want to make sure getting in and out of the water is as easy as possible. We’ve engineered a custom deep swim ladder for Callisto, allowing you to easily enter and exit the water for your snorkel tour.
The Hawaiian Adventures Kona team has brought the comforts of home and have added it to Callisto. Most boats in Honokohau don’t have a restroom, let alone a freshwater shower! Rinse the salt water off of yourself and your gear after exploring beneath the waves of the Kona coast, and take advantage of a private onboard restroom.
